My Top 10 Movies

Until very recently, my list of top ten cinematic masterpieces had only two upon it. Now it has three. In fact, the new movie has moved into second place. Something I never thought a movie could do.

1. Shawshank Redemption.
Tim Robbins is Andy Dufresne. Morgan Freeman is Ellis Boyd ‘Red’ Redding.
~ Two imprisoned men bond over a number of years, finding solace and eventual redemption through acts of common decency.

2. Unleashed.
Jet Li is Danny. Morgan Freeman is Sam. Bob Hoskins is Bart.
~ A man raised into behaving like a dog, escapes from his captor to start a new life, who seeks to reclaim him because of his unnatural martial arts skills that are triggered when unleashed.

3. The Green Mile.
Tom Hanks is Paul Edgecomb. Michael Clarke Duncan is John Coffey. James Cromwell is Warden Hal Moores. Sam Rockwell is ‘Wild Bill’ Wharton.
~ The story about the lives of guards on death row leading up to the execution of black man accused of child murder & rape, who has the power of faith healing.

Academy Cinema City

The italicised descriptions beneath each, supplied by IMDB, really don’t do the visual-symphony’s any justice. They say nothing about the hidden messages, metaphors and life-learning that each of these display. Must as I’d like to expand on each, I say just watch them. If you don’t get it, you never will.

Whilst there are many great productions that I have watched over and over again, even on TV with all the adverts messing up the key-scenes, there are very few I like so much as to admit to watching them. Which is why my top-10 is so incredibly short.

Considering the genre, what others do you think I would/could/should add to bring my list up to the full ten? Go ahead, and I’ll tell you why it is NOT on my list.
